The approach I take with all clients is integrative, so that I can tailor the therapy to each individual by combining the relevant aspects of different therapeutic models and techniques.
Within my therapeutic work I use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) as well as drawing on Systemic therapy. I am additionally trained to provide Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing therapy (EMDR) for the treatment of PTSD.
Following your referral I will make contact with you via phone or email and discuss your situation. If it is then appropriate we will arrange one (or two) assessment appointments where we will explore your current difficulties in more depth, how they may have arisen and how they are being maintained. After this we can then decide on the best way forward and if further therapy sessions would be helpful.
If further therapy sessions are decided on following the assessment appointments then we will agree what therapy approach to take and proceed with a course of sessions. The number of therapy sessions will vary according to needs and therapy model but can range between 3-16 sessions. Weekly sessions are most beneficial and I can offer one or two follow up sessions at a later date.
